Ever dream of seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland? Now you can before even touching down in Reykjavik thanks to Icelandair’s new aurora borealis-themed Hekla Aurora plane. The exterior is painted in vibrant blues and greens, while inside the main cabin is illuminated with LEDs that mimic the sky’s natural light show. It’s all part of the airlines #MyStopover campaign, which allows passengers to lay over in Reykjavik for up to a week on their way to or from Europe. So far, there are no plans to introduce additional themed planes, so for now it’s a matter of luck. Visit this dedicated website to see if you’ll be on the Hekla Aurora.

In other Icelandair news: the carrier recently filed an application with the U.S. government to become a codeshare partner with JetBlue, which would mean easy connections when flying between the two airlines (combined ticketing, luggage transfers), especially when traveling to Reykjavik via Boston and JFK or to Europe via Reykjavik.
